WHY NSF CERTIFICATION MATTERS
Independent Verification, Not Self-Reported Claims
Every facility that makes dietary supplements for sale in the U.S. has to follow FDA's cGMP rules under 21 CFR Part 111. NSF certification goes a step further. It is voluntary, and it means an independent auditor reviews the facility and documents what it finds.
For your brand, that shows up in three places: retailer and marketplace onboarding, your own due diligence, and any day a customer asks where your product is made and how. We would rather you verify us than take our word for it.

BUILT INTO OUR PRODUCTION
What NSF Certification Looks Like at CLS Manufacturing
04
Full Batch Traceability
Every batch traces from raw ingredient to finished, labeled product.
03
Inspection-Ready Records
Documentation is organized so you are never scrambling when a retailer or auditor asks.
02
Ingredient Identity Testing
Incoming raw materials are tested for identity, not accepted on supplier certificates alone.
01
Third-Party Audited
An independent auditor reviews our facility and quality system, not just the paperwork we choose to share.
THE CLS STANDARD
What an NSF Supplement GMP Audit Covers
NSF's dietary supplement GMP standard, NSF/ANSI 455-2, was developed with input from industry, public health officials, regulators, and consumer groups. It combines regulatory requirements, retailer quality expectations, and industry best practices into one audit, and NSF is accredited by ANAB to certify against it.
Facilities that manufacture, package, or warehouse supplements can be audited to it. Ask us for our current NSF certificate and the standard it was issued under. We are glad to walk through it with you.
Smoother Retailer Onboarding
Retailers, marketplaces, and distributors increasingly want proof of compliance before they list a product. A certified manufacturer shortens that conversation.
A Head Start on Product Certification
NSF notes that working with a GMP-compliant contract manufacturer reduces the time and cost of NSF product testing and certification.
Easier Due Diligence
One current certificate and clear records beat a stack of assurances when you are vetting manufacturing partners.
How to Verify Any Manufacturer's NSF Claim
NSF has published public notices about companies that advertised certification they did not hold, so the check is worth five minutes. We expect these questions, and we answer them with documents.
Ask for the current certificate and the standard it was issued under.
Check NSF's official certified products and systems listings.
Confirm the facility name and address match the site that will actually make your product.

COMMON QUESTIONS
FAQs - NSF Certification
01. What does NSF Certified mean for a supplement manufacturer?
It means an independent third party has audited the manufacturing facility against a recognized standard, instead of relying on the manufacturer's own claims. For dietary supplements, NSF's GMP standard is NSF/ANSI 455-2, which covers facilities that manufacture, package, or warehouse supplements.
02. Is NSF certification the same as cGMP compliance?
No. cGMP compliance is a federal requirement for dietary supplement manufacturers under 21 CFR Part 111. NSF certification is voluntary: an independent third party audits the facility and verifies it against a recognized GMP standard, which gives brands confirmation beyond the manufacturer's own claims.
03. Does a manufacturer's NSF certification make my finished product NSF Certified?
Not automatically. Facility certification covers the manufacturer. NSF's product-level programs involve separate testing of the finished product. NSF notes that working with a GMP-compliant contract manufacturer reduces the time and cost of that testing and certification.
04. What if my supplement is aimed at athletes?
Tell us at the start. Sports products raise banned-substance questions, and NSF's Certified for Sport program tests finished products for banned substances. Whether that path fits depends on your formula and ingredients, so it is worth raising during formulation and sourcing.
05. How can I verify a manufacturer's NSF certification?
Ask for the current certificate and the standard it was issued under, then confirm the company and facility in NSF's official certified products and systems listings. Make sure the certified address matches the site that will make your product. When you talk to our team, we walk through our NSF certification, ingredient testing, and batch recordkeeping with real documentation.
05. Do smaller orders get the same quality standards?
Yes. Every batch, whether it is your first production run or your fiftieth, goes through the same testing, documentation, and quality controls.
